Staying Healthy During Flu Season

The flu, especially some of the serious strains, can put a serious strain on your ability to function at work and at home.

But with a few tips, you can perhaps avoid getting the flu at all or be able to take the best steps in case you do catch it…

The best way to avoid getting the flu is to get vaccinated!

It is a simple step that many of us overlook because of our tight schedules, the inconvenience or simply not understanding what flu vaccinations are.   

What a flu vaccine is:

  • Usually a shot in the arm
  • Contains small amounts of 3 dead influenzas
  • These influenzas are selected for their likely popularity
  • Will protect you from those varieties of flu
  • Can cause a low-grade fever afterward

Many of us don’t like the thought of having a needle near us even for a brief few seconds. You are in luck!

Recently, the seasonal flu shot has been developed to work as a nasal spray. You can call ahead to your flu shot administrators to see if they have this mist as an option.

If you still develop flu-like symptoms, make sure you visit your doctor for antiviral treatments. There are several antiviral solutions for seasonal flus and a few for the H1N1 Swine Flu that has been circulating.

Antiviral treatment can be the difference between a short recovery time and a long battle that can keep you out of the office and functioning at home.
